The 1981 Honda Accord LX Limousine is an incredibly rare, custom-built coach classic that takes the definition of an "economy car" and stretches it to the absolute limit. This specific vehicle represents a bizarre slice of 1980s car culture, combining the legendary reliability of a first-generation Accord with the high-roller amenities of a luxury livery vehicle.
Exterior & Customer Coachwork
- Extended Wheelbase: The front-wheel-drive platform was cut and elongated by a professional coachbuilder to add a massive midsection.
- Opera Lamps: It features classic, glowing opera lights mounted on the thick B/C pillars for a traditional limousine look.
- Factory Styling: It retains the original 1981 four-headlight LX sedan front fascia, factory wheels, and chrome bumper trim.
The rear cabin is an absolute monument to early 1980s technology and luxury:
- Plush Seating: Wrapped completely in premium, era-appropriate red velour.
- Pop-Up Jump Seats: Foldable rear-facing seats to accommodate up to six passengers.
- All-Sony Electronics Suite: A period-correct Sony Trinitron TV, a Sony Betamax VCR tape player, and a Sony cassette stereo deck with a built-in graphic equalizer.
- Cabin Comforts: Equipped with a functional privacy partition, dedicated rear air conditioning, power windows, and a hardwired intercom telephone to chat with the driver.
Underneath the massive frame sits the standard, unpretentious powertrain of a 1981 economy sedan. It is powered by Honda's original 1.6-liter CVCC 4-cylinder engine, pushing out roughly 75 horsepower. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission, making it an incredibly slow but exceptionally smooth cruiser.
This rare limousine has been a part of the Duncan Imports collection since 2021.
