- Four-Wheel Disc Brakes: A massive milestone for the 1965 model. The introduction of power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes with a 4-piston design and cooling-fin rotors finally gave the car stopping power to match its immense engine options.
- Exterior Tweaks: The faux front fender coves (seen on earlier C2s) were replaced with three functional vertical louvers. The grille was updated to a horizontal bar design with blacked-out accents.
- Big-Block Engine Debut: Mid-year, Chevrolet introduced the legendary 396 cid "big-block" V8 rated at 425 horsepower. Cars with this engine featured a distinct "power bulge" on the hood to provide clearance for the engine.
