The 1987 Honda Accord marks the second year of the celebrated third-generation (3G) Accord, a vehicle widely praised for its exceptional reliability, crisp handling, and iconic pop-up headlights. All North American 1987 Accords utilize a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, but the delivery of fuel changes dramatically by trim level:
- DX and LX trims: Equipped with a carbureted 2.0L engine. While dependable, the carburetor is married to an incredibly complex web of nearly 50 vacuum lines that can be difficult to troubleshoot if leaks develop over time.
- LXi Trim: Features Honda's advanced Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI), pushing power to 110 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. This configuration provides smoother power delivery and bypasses the vacuum issues of the carbureted models.
