Purchasing a classic, exotic, or JDM vehicle should be an exciting experience. At Duncan Imports & Classic Cars, we believe in being transparent about our buying process and helping our customers make informed decisions. Follow these seven simple steps to help make your buying experience as smooth and straightforward as possible.

1. Choose Your Dream Vehicle

Browse our inventory and find the vehicle that catches your eye. Once you've found one you're interested in, our team can help you conduct a walk-around video to give you a closer look at its overall condition and features.

2. Contact Our Team

Reach out to us by phone or through our website to discuss the vehicle, ask questions, and learn more about the purchasing process. We're here to help you understand the next steps toward owning your dream car.

3. Verify Your State's Titling and Registration Requirements

Before purchasing, contact your state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or the appropriate local authority to confirm that the vehicle can be titled and registered where you live.

We recommend providing a DMV representative with the vehicle's specific details and obtaining guidance in writing whenever possible. Requirements can vary significantly for antique, imported, exotic, and right-hand-drive vehicles.

Please note: Buyers are responsible for verifying applicable state and local requirements before purchasing. Duncan Imports & Classic Cars cannot guarantee that a vehicle will

qualify for registration or titling outside Virginia.

4. Arrange an Independent Pre-Purchase Inspection

We strongly encourage every buyer to have their prospective vehicle evaluated by an independent, third-party mechanic or inspection service before finalizing the purchase.

We can recommend several inspection providers in our area, or you are welcome to choose your own shop or inspector. We also encourage buyers to request a comprehensive inspection report and, when available, a video documenting the vehicle's condition.

Pre-purchase inspections typically cost $250 or less, depending on the vehicle and the scope of the inspection. This is an important opportunity to gain additional information about the vehicle before making your decision.

5. Finalize Your Purchase

Once you're comfortable moving forward, we'll work with you to finalize the transaction. After the purchase terms have been agreed upon, we'll provide the necessary sales documentation and payment instructions.

Payment is typically made by cash, bank wire transfer, or certified check. Financing options may also be available.

6. Arrange Transportation for Your Vehicle

Once your purchase is complete, you'll need to determine how your new vehicle will get to you. Buyers are responsible for arranging transportation, but we're happy to recommend preferred vehicle-shipping companies and share helpful tips for coordinating delivery.

Whether your vehicle is traveling across the country or heading to an international destination, planning transportation in advance can help make the process easier.

7. Receive Your Finalized Paperwork

As your vehicle's shipment is coordinated, we'll provide the applicable bill of sale and finalized sales paperwork in accordance with the transaction and delivery process.

Keep these documents in a safe place, as you may need them when completing your state's titling and registration requirements.
