The 2000 Porsche Boxster S marked the introduction of the high-performance variant of the first-generation (986) Porsche Boxster roadster. Designed to offer a sharper, faster alternative to the base model, the Boxster S bridged the gap between the standard roadster and the 911 Carrera.

- Gearing: A 6-speed manual transmission instead of the base car's 5-speed unit.
- Chassis & Handling: Stiffer suspension tuning with firmer shock absorbers and progressive coil springs.
- Aesthetics & Identification: Dual center-exit exhaust pipes, an additional radiator intake mesh up front, 17-inch standard wheels (with optional 18-inch variants), and a red "S" badge on the trunk.
